It is our great pleasure that we, Raindrop Turkish House, proudly announce the fourth annual Turkic Cultures & Children’s Festival to be held at Hermann Square in front of the Houston City Hall on November 6 and 7, 2010 between 11:00 AM. and 09:00 PM.
Raindrop Turkish House is not only a home to Turkish-Americans also to Turkic-Americans such as Azeri, Uzbek, Turkmen, Kazak, Kyrgyz, Bosnian, and Albanian in assisting them with their social and cultural needs and helping them integrate into this multicultural society better. The mission of Raindrop is to introduce Turkish culture into American society and cultivate friendship and promote the understanding of diverse cultures through dialog and cooperation.
Houston is the fourth largest and one of the most culturally diverse cities in the United States. One of the most unique aspects of Houston is the citywide cultural festivals that give Houstonians as well as Texans the opportunity to learn more about the rich heritage of many different nations. This festival would not only give Houstonians but also citizens from other cities in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Kansas, New Mexico and Arkansas the opportunity to achieve a better understanding of Turkey and the Turkic world, their culture and people, their hospitality and kindness.
Festival will provide a unique opportunity for children and their families to experience the sights, sounds, and cuisine of distant places right in their own backyard. Turkey, Turkic world, and Balkan countries and cultures will showcase their respective heritages through entertainment, food, cultural, and educational exhibits as well. The most important participants of festival, namely, children will find many different activities like games, face painting, dancing, clowns, etc. to have fun during this weekend. Furthermore, the festival will be a great opportunity for the Turkic communities to represent their cultures as an integral part of Houston’s diverse cultural, social, and public lives as well as to benefit Turkic-Americans by offering them a chance to experience the beauty and richness of their native land.
Last year, the festival drew over 22,000 Houstonians. This year we expect that the festival will attract up to over 30,000 visitors and guests.
We hope you take this opportunity for your sponsorship to support this unique and beneficial festivity. Mexico, Japan, and Indonesia will be the guest countries this year.
